Courses and Resources :)

In this blog, I am going to discuss various courses I came across so far.

Firstly, I want to give a disclaimer; please do not assume that these are the only options you have. Before deciding something, do your own research about the course curriculum and competencies and do contact the school you are applying for if you have any questions regarding the STEM status or credit details.

To start with first, you must choose the type, of course, you want to do,

You can select any of the following depending on your goal and time commitments,

  1. Master’s course
  2. Dual degrees/ Joint Degree programs (MS/MBA, MS/PHD, etc.)
  3. Fellowships
  4. Diploma
  5. Certificate courses

You can choose to either do them on-campus or even online from India. I will be discussing mostly masters and Dual degree courses.

I am listing out few courses offered by various universities to which a bachelors in dentistry, medicine any biology-related degree is a prerequisite to apply for. You can search for the same or similar courses in the school of your interest, make sure to check the details such as curriculum, competencies etc. before you start the application procedure.

  1. Master’s in public health (MPH)
  2. Master of Science in clinical research
  3. Master of Science in clinical research administration
  4. Master’s in health care analytics
  5. Master’s in health care administration (Not STEM)
  6. Master’s in health outcomes and analytics
  7. Master’s in health economics and outcomes research
  8. Master’s in Science and business
  9. Master’s in Biomedical Health Sciences
  10. MS in clinical and transitional Science
  11. MS in Science in physiology and integrative biology
  12. Health Informatics
  13. Master of Health Science in global health economics
  14. Master of Science in Biostatistics
  15. Environmental Health sciences
  16. Master’s in biomedical engineering and technology

The name of the course and STEM status may vary depending on the college.

Trust me, apart from the ones I mentioned here there are many more courses which you might be eligible for after finishing your bachelor’s in a health-related discipline from India.

A few of the names mentioned above are of the Main Departments, and there will be many more ramifications inside those departments where you can find a course of your interest,

For Instance, let us consider the Masters in Public health course,

It may or may not be declared STEM, so make sure to check that with the university. The divisions vary depending on the college. In Rutgers School of Public Health (My school)

We have four major departments:

  1. Biostatistics and Epidemiology
  2. Environment and Occupational Health
  3. Health Behavior, society, and Policy
  4. Urban Global Public Health

And the departments may vary depending on the college. So, make sure to do your research before you apply for a department and the course in it.
